NOSOTROS:<\/strong>
Las expediciones anuales est\u00e1n integradas normalmente por una docena de profesionales casi todos sanitarios (cirujanos, anestesistas, enfermeras, fisioterapeutas y logistas), normalmente vienen de diferentes hospitales y centros de salud de la provincia de Barcelona. El equipo var\u00eda en funci\u00f3n de su disponibilidad personal, econ\u00f3mica y laboral. Los responsables de los equipos son estables y veteranos en la zona, tienen experiencia sobre el terreno desde el 2006 y se coordinan con los profesionales locales y las autoridades sanitarias del Pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

COLABORADORES SENEGALESES<\/strong> : son toda la comisi\u00f3n con la que establecemos la manera de relacionarnos, con quien evaluamos los objetivos, las actividades y la log\u00edstica: la direcci\u00f3n del hospital, el ayuntamiento, el comit\u00e9 de Salud, la Universidad y la comisi\u00f3n de seguimiento de la actividad que representa al pueblo.
El equipo senegal\u00e9s con quien trabajamos durante todo el a\u00f1o codo con codo, ayuda a organizar la campa\u00f1a: difunde las fechas de la nuestra de llegada a la poblaci\u00f3n, hace el primer triaje de los posibles pacientes, confecciona las listas, se marcan los objetivos, revisan las instalaciones, el material necesario y nuestras necesidades una vez all\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Fue en 2006 que la Dra. Teresa Sell\u00e9s colaboraba con la caravana solidaria en \u00c1frica Occidental y por azar, tropez\u00f3 con un quir\u00f3fano abandonado en el hospital de Thionk Essyl, en la Casamance, en el sur de Senegal. La falta de cirujanos y de infraestructuras le hac\u00edan inservible.
Teresa all\u00ed encontr\u00f3 un pueblo amable, unas personas que viv\u00edan en la precariedad, donde para vivir ten\u00edan que trabajar intensamente haciendo los trabajos del campo o la pesca, lo que les provocaba unas hernias terribles y les invalidaba. En ocasiones, les privaba de trabajar y por tanto de subsistir.
Al poco tiempo contact\u00f3 con las autoridades sanitarias locales y con mucho tiempo y paciencia, inici\u00f3 su actividad quir\u00fargica con un peque\u00f1o equipo sanitario.
A\u00f1o tras a\u00f1o Teresa colabor\u00f3 \u200b\u200bcon diversas ONG, realizando campa\u00f1as sanitarias e intervenciones quir\u00fargicas hasta poder crear su propia ONG.<\/p>\n

La Casamance tiene 28.000 Km2 y la etnia dominante es Diola, son gente amable de talante alegre, a pesar de sus carencias. El 54% de la poblaci\u00f3n vive bajo el umbral de la pobreza. La lucha armada durante tiempos pasados \u200b\u200bha hecho una zona empobrecida, vulnerable, retrasada en infraestructuras, donde la falta de inversi\u00f3n gubernamental se hace presente. Malviven en peque\u00f1as construcciones con un fuego en el suelo, sin agua corriente, alcantarillado, ni luz las 24h. Del d\u00eda.
La higiene es escasa y muchas de las enfermedades m\u00e1s comunes no se tratan.
Thionk Essyl es un pueblo de 8.000 habitantes de religi\u00f3n principalmente animista y musulmana, que conserva sus rituales, ceremonias inici\u00e1ticas y en ocasiones la medicina tradicional.
Nuestros pacientes son la gente del pueblo, de toda la regi\u00f3n e incluso recibimos a pacientes de Gambia y Guinea Conakre.<\/p>\n
